Point of the Cutlass

I was just wondering, sometimes when I come to the site I notice that in the "Who is Online" section at the bottom of the page it says "Google[bot]" in the Registered Users list and earlier today it said "Yahoo[bot]". What does that mean?

Sorry if I shouldn't have posted this here, I'm just curious.

I believe it determines how many hits we get and then knows how high to rate us on a google search...

Aye, that's right Alex. Google and Yahoo bots are harmless. Your admin deletes the other bots and spam every day who try and get admission to our site. Sometimes 25-50 try to get in a day. The ones that try usually come on as guests and then try and register. Those are only logged in as guests. Yahoo and Google bots have names and are part of the web service that rates our site on activity. They don't do anything bad to the site and it means we are active enough to warrant a look see...

Strange thing that is ... They are also trying to view and maybe steal pictures, too.
So be aware, when you post private pictures, or pictures from stars, links and all ...
And when you post pictures of yours, be sure that no one can steal them or view yer albums ... like photobucket, image shack etc. ...
* I took care of it and converted my photobucket albums into private*

There is also a danger to post private pictures like on Facebook or Myspace for excample.
You´re never know, if someone is stealing it and use it for his own purpose ... like websites or other unlegal things ...
I did read a lot about it lately ... ´tis scary, how someone can use pictures or other private things without your permission ...

But what great moderators we have here, to take care about it ... :ok

Right now Point of the Cutlass has 579.000 hits on Google so far ... :naughty
