changing lanes in life

Postby Esther Sparrow on Tue Nov 17, 2009 9:52 pm

it's not so much asking advice, as just trying to vent a little. I really dont feel good now, I have the feeling I'm at a point in life where I either simply change completely, or give up. I am thinking very seriously of changing jobs, to the point where I'm looking into other companies and so...

But I'm unsure... what to do where to go? I know, only I can know and decide, but what do you do when you just dont know where to go anymore? What if your compass keeps spinning around?

Sit down Esther and write down your assets and what you are good at and like to do in work related things... then find an area where you'd fit in and send them a resume. Don't give up...

Esther, it's important to find something you love that you can make a living from--trust me, I'm in the same dilemma right now. But don't be rash about it and just abandon ship at your current workplace. Most of us need a job while we're looking for a job! ;) appy's advice is good---good luck mate! I hope to follow suit soon myself!

I found a nice looking job, as a meteorologist for the Belgian government. It sounds like a cool job with on-the-job training. I also found another as traffic controller at the belgian airport. Both seem incredible, but how can I be sure? I have a serious identity crisis going I'm afraid...

I've heard that air traffic controllers go through a LOT of stress, but the meteorologist job sounds cool!

I would have to agree with BC, I would rather dig a hole in the wrong place than be responsible for two planes full of people being in the wrong air space!!! 8) :O

Well I entered myself to take part in an internal exam. Its basically the same job as I'm doing, but less hassle. I'll work in a call center and not on the trains anymore, so there is no other abuse than verbal maybe. And then I'm entitled to hang up... The hours are better. I'm getting excited again about the idea of this...

I am so desperate and depressed and plain.... sad
If a car runs me over tomorrow I'll thank it I guess. The exam isnt happening for me, because my boss misplaced my entry form. And there is NOTHING I can do about that, absolutely nothing!!!!! I just have to wait it out.... It will take more than a year now!!!!!

I am so downhearted, I held my hopes high thinking this exam would mean a fresh start that I needed so badly and now Im just stuck in Nightmaresville with no hope to get out soon. To top it all off he said I am a bad employee because my sales arent high enough. WTF?????? He should get his freaking figures right!!! I work other shifts than the other people he compares me with, and not many people buy tickets during late shifts as during the early ones!!! EVERYONE KNOWS THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But no.... he's just "evaluating me" after f*cking up himself...

So sorry Esther... that isn't fair that you have to suffer from someone elses incompetence, especially if he is in a position of importance. It happens though. Take a big breath and try and get over it. Maybe you should start looking for another job if this one isn't what you want to do. Put your resume out and see what happens. Maybe this is your time to make a complete change. Huggles mate...
