That's a relief! I heard they were moving ships from Pearl Harbor out to sea just in case, so I was hoping they were making provisions for the Pearl. Guess they'll have to keep a weather eye for the likes of Calypso while they get filming done....

JOHNNY DEPP is heading for Cornwall to film the latest of his Pirates of The Caribbean movies.

Producers have chosen the seaside town of St Ives as the setting for the fourth in the yo ho ho series.

Shooting begins later this year and the film, On Stranger Tides, will be released in summer 2011.

The Sun revealed in November that Johnny, 46, had agreed a £21million deal to return as Captain Jack Sparrow.

The new movie will be part-prequel, featuring flashbacks to Jack's early life.

PENELOPE CRUZ is being sought to play the female lead.

I swear, slightly odd looking British actors... is there nothing they can't make me watch? Ian McShane? In PIRATES?! :yahoo

The only thing that could make this better is if they managed to cram Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry in there somewhere too!

I vaguely remember McShane from Lovejoy repeats on the US Public Television and Television Ontario... But who I loved to hate (if hate means ADORE) is Al Swearengen. Deadwood quickly became one of my favourite shows of all time, and it wasn't for the glee of the salty language and VERY adult situations(if I wanted to enjoy mere swearing for the way it was sworn I'd watch Trailer Park Boys)... Deadwood had layers like a good performance of Shakespeare. It was fantastic.

Heck, Ian McShane made me enjoy watching Death Race (a terrible movie if you don't like things blowing up). EEEEE! Blackbeard! That ROCKS! :dance

That was my basic reaction too! Ian McShane is great. I have yet to see him in Deadwood, but he's fantastic as Lovejoy. I think he's going to make an awesome Blackbeard. And if they got Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry in POTC 4, that would be fabulous too!

As to the prequel idea, that actually might be true. I came across a post on LiveJournal where someone in England (London, I think) mentioned that Disney location scouts were looking into doing some filming on a street with old buildings and the scene would take place in winter. Unless Jack is going to go back to England sometime during the search for the FoY, I'd say that indicates there might be some flashback scenes happening...

We've known since February that Penélope Cruz was looking to come aboard "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides," the fourth installment of Johnny Depp's swashbuckling adventure stories. Yet until now, her exact role has remained unclear.

MTV News has exclusively learned exactly how Cruz fits into the story: She's the daughter of Depp's nemesis.

"She plays the daughter of Blackbeard," executive producer Jerry Bruckheimer told MTV News at ShoWest in Las Vegas. "She's the daughter of the bad guy.

"She brings a lot of humor to it. And the fact that she's so feisty," he continued, adding that there will be "a little romance between [Depp's] Captain Jack and the character that Penelope plays."

Ian McShane is to set to play Blackbeard, the main adversary to Captain Jack Sparrow. As Bruckheimer put it, Blackbeard is "the nastiest pirate ever."

Geoffrey Rush, who has played Barbossa in the three previous "Pirates" films, told MTV News in September that he expected to reprise his role in "On Stranger Tides," and Bruckheimer confirmed that will indeed be the case.

Filming is slated to begin in June. New actors are in the process of being cast for certain roles, with testing currently in the works. As for the plot, we know the story will pick up where it ended in 2007's "At World's End": with Sparrow's search for the Fountain of Youth. Yet Bruckheimer promised a fresh approach to this familiar material.

"We're going to take a whole new direction," he said.

The two were last seen together as husband and wife in the 2000 film, 'Blow', Contactmusic reported.

The 35-year-old actress has signed up to play the daughter of British actor Ian McShane who will portray Depp's new nemesis, the notorious pirate Blackbeard in 'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides', according to producer Jerry Bruckheimer.

"She's the daughter of the bad guy... very feisty. There's a little romance between Captain Jack and the character that Penelope plays," said the movie mogul.

Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley who were part of the previous three films in the hit franchise are not returning for the fourth movie as they feel their characters' storylines are at an end.

Having read the book and read the casting news, I'm having some difficulty reconciling the two.

Which reminds me (how? I don't know) if I didn't know that OB was NOT going to be in the movie I would be really suspicious about his current hairstyle and goatee.

Don't know why they bought the rights to the book, this is nothing like the storyline! Not good to call the movie "On Stranger Tides", and it's about a bloody pirate, but then restrict him to land...

Jack may need to shoot more than just a monkey to be happy about this....
