Not much exciting going on here, I have a rotten cold and a sore toe, I am supposed to do an 8+ miler this weekend, not happening at all now I dont know how I am gonna succeed @ this upcoming marathon...I'm getting nervous.
Other than my cold, today should be a good day, looking forward to watching the Celtics play the Magic this afternoon, and then the SuperBowl tonight, GO SAINTS!

Hiya mates... Just up from my han and a busy morning. First, I'm feeling a bit better, but not 100% yet. This bug is not very good at leaving, that's for sure. We didn't go down to the barn till after 9 this morning as my friend had two teenagers to get up which is a chore in itself. I picked up my other friend and we headed down to the barn, after stopping for Timmies on the way. We all arrived about the same time and got our chores done. Another cold and sunny day which Cruz was enjoying outside with his mates. Then we headed to Trissas for breakfast, which was the first real food I've had in about a week. Had my usual which tasted fantastic, and then on the way home, my friend and I did a bit of food shopping, trying to find my favorite hot chocolate. Still no go on that and my supplies are running low...sigh. When I got home, I started to feel yucky again, so lay down and fell asleep. At least I didn't lose my breakfast. Now I'm up to watch the finals of the womens curling for Canada, and then the super bowl....go Saints. Not going to make a big dinner as per my routine...just something lite tonight. Hope everyone is having a great Sunday... and the weather behaves for all.

LS...are you snowed in? Going to work tomorrow?

Paw... great to hear from you. Aye, its been a cold winter this year, but washing cupboards is bordering on cabin fever mate... lol

Mangy... so sorry about your troubles over the past bit, esp with F's mom in law to be passing away. Surely things will change around soon for you and your new carers for Rob will be much betterer than the ones you had.

Heading back to work today! I should do fine, as I get around in the morning just fine without my cane and usually only need it as the day goes on and my hip starts to hurt a bit. I imagine they will have me doing pretty sedentary stuff to start out with.

We watched The Sound of Music last night instead of the Super Bowl, but I see this morning that the Saints won, and I'm happy about that!

Good morning mates... It's another sunny but cold morning, and a threat of snow tomorrow. Just got home from the barn and doing a bit of shopping on the way home. Cruz was in today, so he got a clean stall and his soupy mash with his goodies and some hay to eat for later. I must say he was sure enjoying it when I checked on him before leaving... lol. Still cannot find my hot chocolate at any of the stores, but i think I got a close second to it today...will give it a try. No real chores set up for today except a few phone calls. On a positive note, I did eat dinner last night and breakfast this morning, and feel much better today. I'm hoping things have settled down and now I just need to get my strength back. Will be back later to say hi to everyone... and hope everyone has a great day.

I watched the Super Bowl game last night with some friends on line, and I must say I'm so happy for the Saints and NOLA...hopefully this will be the start of a good Mardi Gras celebration for the city and a turn for the better. WHO DAT!

The boys had a ball this weekend! The three of them play very nicely together, and you never heard so much giggling in your whole life. I had to get up twice to tell them to go to sleep! Sweet boys; I wish they'd never grow up....

I'm wondering since the Olympics start on Friday, if we are going to get bombarded at work with panicked calls from Canada, or if it will be dead quiet until after it's all over...

Ahoy me Lovies! Huggles all around! I actually wrote this yesterday but me post got taken by the kraken to the depths. Arrrrrgh!

WHO DAT? Squeeeeeeeeeeee!

Been busy this weekend. Whew! The snow/ice/snow storm started Friday afternoon with snow, then turned to ice around midnight, then over to heavy snow around 2 am. So, this unfortunately has caused some major power outages all over the area. We’ve been lucky though. Just a few blips here and there.

Since we had those blips, I decided to cook a pirate feast that would be much easier to heat up on the propane grill than cook. So, I started with fresh veggie soup, then baked a ham, made rum-fruited yams, seasoned green peas, red-skin smashed taters, and oven toasted French bread with butter and cheddar. We’ve eaten this feast two days in a row and will finish it tonight. The ham bone is slated for some serious pot o’ beans later on.

Captain Racsan had fun using Mr. Frosty to blow all of the snow off of the driveway and walkway. Unfortunately, as soon as he finished a swath it was covered in two inches of snow. With a storm like this it is difficult to keep up. He did enjoy being in it though.

Late Saturday afternoon we got in the Blue Pearl and started our trek to Church. Now our church is a little country church like in the Courier and Ives piccies. We had Mass by candlelight because there was no power……us and 2 other folks besides Father. It was very quiet and we could hear the snow falling on the roof of the church and the flickering of the candles – very quaint and intimate to be sure. I thought about how the folks long ago lived without modern conveniences. To get there and back to The Manor, we had to dodge downed trees and low slung power lines and huge piles of plowed snow. It was an adventure and we thoroughly enjoyed it.

Today we have been doing laundry…..well……at least washing it. Our dryer is broken and was SUPPOSED to be fixed on Friday morning. The stupid blighter Sears guy canceled his visit because of the weather. Righto dude – you were supposed to be at me house before noon. The snow didn’t start sticking until 5 pm. So much for customer service. He better be here on time on Wednesday or it’s the plank fer him. Anyhoo, we off to the Laundromat soon so we can dry what we have washed. I’m tired of wearin’ stiff air-dried drawers!

The animals loved the snow too. Pummy had a hard time doing her business as the snow was up to a Labrador’s wazoo on all fours. But she did frollick in it. Appy (the furry one) and Emmy like it too. Emmy likes to paw at it (we had 2 inches on the screened-in porch) and Appy likes to roll in it. Silly kittens!

Anyhoo, it’s been a quiet and peaceful free day off. I hope they give us tomorrow too.

Mangy, my sincerest condolences Luv. What an awful thing to happen to P’s Mum. Me prayers and good thoughts are with all of ye. Major huggles! I am glad that things are looking up with the care for R. While it seems so complicated now, once all is said and done, ye will be able to have quality care ye can trust to do things right. Appy, I’m glad that ye are on the mend Luv. Not good to have a digestive bug for so long. I was worried ye might get dehydrated. Major huggles and good juju fer ye to heal up quickly Poppet. Lemme know what yer cocoa is called so’s I can try to plunder some fer ye too.

Alex, how many days did ye get to jammie down? Seems our snow started as rain in yer part o’ the country. Send it on if ye get more. BTW, how are the reservoirs in yer area doin’? Huggles!

Hiya mates... Just up from my han which was interrupted by an irritating phone call check up from one of my banks...sigh. It was the one I took all my money out of last week. They were asking if they could do anything for me.... sigh again. Can you tell that I was less than pleased? Anyway, did get some sleep, and woke up feeling pretty good. I actually feel like eating dinner tonight, so will try out the meatloaf from yesterday.
The hot chocolate is expensive and is called Nestle Noir... and I'm not giving up. Walmart has the caramel flavoured one, but I like the original, as its not too sweet and is very dark... and yummy. I still have three other Walmarts to check, so never fear, I will find it...

Esther...thanks for your good wishes... hope you are having a good week and the weather isn't too bad. Huggles mate

Got out of work at 5, work was ok, but after that has been an adventure....I hate the highway, as I have mentioned....Friday I took it home no traffic at all...Tonight I took it home, and traffic, was nuts!!!! I think I'll go back to taking the long way...Then I went to the drug store to pick up my dizzy meds and they said I had no health insurance I was there for 45 min while they straightened that out...Then I come home, and my security software from my computer has disappeared I fixed that...Scott got home from work early, now were gonna relax..
As for the toe, I have no idea what happened, but it seems to be ok!

First day back at work went well! They just had me prepping charts like I used to do. I was almost late for work because I hadn't parked my car under the carport the night before and I had to scrape ice off all the windows!

Got some rain this morning, but it's supposed to be cleared out by about 9am and then some cold air coming in.

The hot cholate sounds good, Appy! Whenever I go to Starbuck's I always order peppermint hot chocolate.

i met with a jobcoach yesterday and it was a good meeting and i'm positive that she'll help me find a job that suits me she is gonna help me with my self esteem because todays employers wants to hire people with good self esteem, so this jobcoach will help me with that and then she'll help me to match my resume with jobs
so that i get a job that suits me, i know where to go,know where it is and is fun, i'm gonna go to her ones every week until may, so i think i will soon find a job. also they have hired me for some time again at my mums work because they have alot of files that needs sorting and put in boxes so i will probably be there a month or less then that we'll see.

Hiya mates... Sorry for being late in checking in, but had a busy morning and I just crashed for my han and slept like a mummy. Feeling much better today, but still tired. Got up early and drove to the barn. Cruz was out, so I just made sure he had a clean stall and left his goodies for him. We are expecting a foot of snow tonight and tomorrow, so I made sure his stall was deep in clean shavings. Played with the dogs for a bit and gave the cats their treats, as well as the horses I give treats every day. My friend came down and we chatted for a bit, and then I started off on my small adventure. Cruz was running low on his meds, so I drove down to Aylmer, to his vets to pick up more. It started to snow the closer I got to the lake, but it wasn't too bad driving. Got there without a problem. My vet and his associates are building a new office, so I drove over to take a look and it appears that they may be moving in fairly soon. In fact they had a contest going on to name the huge clinic. I put in "The Friendly Vet Clinic", as we cannot use the town name in the title. Good prize too. $100 gift certificate to the Keg Steak house. Will be interested to see what wins. Then on the drive home, I stopped at the apple orchard that sells wonderful fruit and veggies, and picked up 20 kg of huge honeycrisp apples for $12. They are sooo good and I'm sure the horses will enjoy them. Then I stopped at another food chain to try and find my elusive hot chocolate, but they didn't have it. What they did have is a can of Tim Horton's hot chocolate, so I bought that to try and see if I like it. Sigh... Walmart better restock soon as my supply of Nestles Noir is running out. I'm only having it at bedtime and am really going to miss it when its gone...waaa. So that was my day. I lay down for my han and got interrupted by a guy at the door trying to sell a energy plan and a phone call with no one there. That means I'll get at least one sales call tonight. Dinner will be leftover meatloaf, and some veggies. When I woke up, we've had about an inch of snow... much less than they'd predicted we'd get today, so who knows what we'll get.

b4t ... I bet there will be long lines at the border for sure starting on Friday. Keep your fingers crossed that you get some cold weather for the next few weeks, although it seems they have the Cypress Mt snow fixed with lots of trucking of snow. Whistler seems to be okay, but some frigid nights would help. Hope you're having a good day... huggles

I got up at 3:30 AM and left at 5:15 AM. Didn't come to a stop until just North of Pearland. I got to the vet at 7:30 AM - it took 1.5 hours without rush hour traffic. Mort had 2 CT scans and several biopsies. Of course Mort wants windows down so I FROZE - 41 degrees when I got to Houston. The vet office wasn't warm either.... Got home just after 5 PM. exhausted. results from biopsies next week.

Ahoy me Lovies from snowed-in Spotsylvania.

It's still coming down and we have a foot already on the ground.

We went out late yesterday to do some shopping. Good thing too. We can't go anywhere today. It was treacherous enough coming home last night when this storm started. We were on I-95 and it was a free for all. There were no plows on the road and the snow was falling hard and the lines on the road could not be seen. It was amazing that we got home in one piece. LOL. We won't be makin that mistake again.

Good morning mates... Just home from the barn on this snowy morning. We've only had about 4 inches so far, but the wind is blowing it around quite nicely so we have some drifts. It's coming down quite heavy now that I'm home. Driving to the barn was a bit slippery today, but I didn't even need the 4-wheel drive to get there and back. My friend and I did our stalls and then I made Cruz his soupy mash, which he was enjoying quite a bit. I made it quite sloppy today, so it was more like soup than mash... lol. Played with the dogs and cats a bit, and then we headed to Trissa's for a nice warm breakfast. Yummy as usual, and then we headed for home. As I was shutting the garage, this guy came along and said he'd shovel my drive for some pocket change, so I gave him $8 to do it. He seemed in need, but he did a good job. I hope he got other drives to do today in the neighbourhood. The kids across the street came over last night to ask if I'd seen anyone around their house yesterday, as someone had broke in and stolen their video games and some DVD's. I was out a lot yesterday morning and then had my han in the afternoon, so I couldn't help them. Their back door is around the side of their house, so I guess it would be difficult for anyone to see if they broke in. So sad as these were bought by the kids with their money from doing chores around the neighbourhood. The look on their faces said it all....very sad. I hope their insurance will pay for replacements. To say the least, I was locking my door very securely this morning and looked around the house for footprints in the snow before I entered the house. Sigh... its always something, isn't it? Going to archery later tonight, but other than that, nothing planned for today. Hope everyone has a good day and those who are being affected by the bad weather, keep warm and dry and I hope the snow doesn't make things too difficult for you.

I have exactly 5 minutes!

It's been a crazy, but not bad, week at school. Yesterday was progress report day. That's the PC name for report card. That always inspires lots of slackers to suddenly remember to bring in their makeup work so that they can get off restrictions. Too bad I refuse to grade it until next week.

THe weather BC is having is headed my way. We had the "s" word mentioned in the forecast for Friday. I'm not going to hold my breath about it though.

I am anxiously awaiting the long weekend! I have a book calling my name.

Hiya guys.... Just home from archery and found that the sidewalk plows had been by, so now I don't have to shovel them tomorrow... yay. I got one bullseye tonight, but my aim was consistently to the left ...grr. Tried a sling for a bit to force my wrist into a different position, but that didn't work either. Going to work on it again next week. We all had a great time,except our teachers just lost their first grandchild in utero last week, at term. So sad... but we tried to cheer them up a bit. Even the kids in class came over and gave them a huggle. We are a small but tight group of archers.

Hey, they are predicting an 80% chance of an inch of snow here in Mobile tomorrow! Would love to see snow again! All my co-workers are freaking out, though!

Last night we all met at Longhorn to celebrate Sea Wolf's mom's birthday, and on the way home someone swerved in front of Sea Wolf's husband's car and he had to slam on the brakes and Sea Wolf ran into him in her car. I had left the restaurant first, so I didn't even know about it until she called me crying to tell me what happened. She is fine and the airbag didn't even deploy, but she had a headache last night just from the whiplash effect.

B4t, I've been working on Alice In Wonderland costumes for friends, not Mardi Gras. Been quite fun! Working on Alice's dress right now, and need to do one more modification to the White Queen.

Good morning mates... Having a wee lie in this morning and my mate is going to the barn to do chores. I'm feeling fine, just a bit tired and am enjoying just a lay around day. I really don't have much to do until tomorrow, when I have a dr appt as well as the barn, so I went back to bed for a couple of hours this morning. I know I am lucky to have that luxury... so am having a nap for everyone who needs one... It's a cloudy day with threats of streamer snow from the lake, but so far nothing has fallen. BC, wow, how scary! I'm glad SW wasn't hurt, but she's probably more upset about her car being damaged. Was the guy swerving from bad weather or just being a bad driver? Your costumes sound great--- can we see pictures? Longhorn sounds like BBQ--we have one here, too--I wonder if it's the same restaurant? If you get snow, do be careful! Most folks down there don't know what to do when it snows that far south!

Something is really goofy w/the world when Florida and Alabama are getting ready for snow, and Washington and British Columbia haven't seen any.... did Mother Nature drop her snow globe?

RedBlade I don't even know what day Mardi Gras is on this year---and I was born in Louisiana, how sad is that?! For some reason I had it in me head that it was the first part of February but obviously that's not right!

Spent yesterday evening making heart-shaped cookies for the whelp's school party this Friday. No whoever makes drop cookies out of sugar cookie mix? That kind is for cookie cutters! Nope, they hid that version of the recipe way in small print at the bottom, so I had waaaay too much buttah in my battah! I had to knead in a ton of flour so as not to stick to the cutting board. Bah! They came out fine, though so when I make batch #2 tonight, at least I'll be better prepared....

You know, I'm not trying to be a humbug, but I'm so tired of snow....


I have my net back now though. Weather had the line down. Weather here has had everything all buggered up. It's been a mess.....first we had that 8 inch snow, then the 10-12 incher the next time, this this reallllllly cold 2 incher snow. The first one was fun! We hooked Matt's big sled to the four wheeler and had an absolute BLAST. We sledded and snowball fought till we were soaking wet, red faced and frozen, went inside, warmed up shook off the snow, changed into dry clothes, waited a few minutes, then bundled back up and went back out and did it all over again and then yet again till 3 am in the morning then did more the next day....lol....then the second one, we did donuts in the field in the truck, borrowed the neighbor's rather large hills and sledded till we couldn't walk anymore, and then built snowmen 'guardians' of the barn and took the dogs out and let them wallow in it. Then we made icecream from the snow, but this third one....I'm like....bleh. It's super cold because of the wind here, and it's no fun at all this time...it was more ice than snow.

I'm ready for spring. I'm tired of being stuck inside and snowed in.

But I'm getting a lot done as far as the costumes I'm creating for this summer's conventions Matt and I are doing. We've got several we are doing...two locals, and we are doing the Transformers convention (BotCon) in Orlando Florida in June where I am a costuming guest speaker for the convention. :) I'm so excited!

Hiya mates... Just up from my han, which was full of interesting story dreams, but alas no CJS or JD ones... but quite the adventures for sure. It didn't snow at all today, and I can almost see the gravel on the driveway, so it must have become mild during the day. Getting ready to make supper and feel kind of guilty to have had such a lazy day when everyone else had a busy one. Hope everyone gets to rest tonight and enjoy some down time...

Mangy ...aye its true that the robbers come back. That happened to me when I was living out west. Six months after the first break in, they came back and stole the new items that had been replaced...sigh. The neighbours don't have a dog, but one lives next door. I didn't see or hear anything...sigh. I have good locks and doors, and my windows are way above ground... but I've had my front door broken down once since being here. Replaced it with a better one afterwards. Huggles mate and hope you are having a good day...
