trouble is trying to compete with all the rides and facilities and opportunities they have Stateside.
I am actually embarrassed about folks talking of coming for a future gathering to my small country, truth be known, as its such a long way for most, and would cost such a lot of money, and we have absolutely nothing here to offer to compare with the scale of superb entertainment of the Disneyparks.....not that I am not proud of our wonderful scenery and brave and violent history, nor would I want mates to think I would not adore to see them in person, and show them around... but sadly, Scotland is also famous for hills and sheep and rain...so I am very afraid that folks would be bored silly and bitterly disappointed.
We dont even celebrate Hallow'een on anything like the scale you guys do, and that is about the only time I can even imagine having the opportunity to get kitted out in pirate gear,so sad really.
There is one pirate day held at the local castle once a year, mainly for kids, and they set out a few stalls for making bead dangles, a plank to walk over, colouring in and a treasure trail walk through the woodlandands, a few dressed historians shooting black powder as a demonstration, but if there were 100 folks attending last year that would be about it.
There is indeed so little here that even johnny-depp uk had to leave our shores to get any work! Last summer he went to the holiday resorts in Spain to find employment there, and since last September, has spent a great deal of his time trying to get paid work as Jack Sparrow over in Japan, where there is a huge JD following, but not too many CJS impersonators..least none that look european enough to be taken very seriously!!.
In fact, prolly the most piratical stuff in the whole of Scotland would be in my own movie den and wardrobe, and most of that came from ebay and Norleans last time I visited !!

I really do not mind the long journey or the expense to travel to y'all, in fact its a great part of the adventure for me, and a blessed releif, though I should not say so in print, to be able to pass Rob's care for a short time to his trusted and excellent carers. I am very very excited to be planning to attend Texas this fall, and may be able I hope to save to come across again by 2012!!
